OUTAGE ESTIMATOR



Description

Our client's Technology Services Division provides specialist support to their own plants and provides consultancy overhaul services to power generators in the UK and overseas.

Their workshop facilities offer light to heavy machining including CNC operations, specialist and general fitting, balancing of rotating plant, grit blasting and NDT covering a complete spectrum of services demanded of power generation plant and similar engineering industries. These services are offered to both internal and external third party clients.

An opportunity has arisen for the position of OUTAGE ESTIMATOR within our client's Proposals Department.



The role will involve:



The role will suit applicants with experience in pricing and/or delivering Turbine Generator rotating plant outages including balance of plant equipment (pumps, valves, actuators, motors etc) and have had past experience in issuing technical specifications to sub contractors including negotiating workscope and prices. Other skills include the preparation of Proposal documents with particular regard to the technical scope.



Applications are invited from individuals who have a good technical background based on turbine generators, excellent numerical skills and good interpersonal qualities with the ability to deal with staff from all levels of business. Experience of commercial contracting arrangements would be beneficial but is not essential. The role will involve occasional travel both in the UK and abroad.



Applications are also invited from individuals who may have had past estimating experience in other engineering disciplines and/or have been involved in the technical and commercial analysis of related on site works and now wish to develop their job role within an expanding multi-disciplined engineering workshop facility.





Person Specification



The successful applicant should have:



• Extensive hands-on, practical craft/engineering experience.

• Previous estimating experience (desirable).

• Have a recognised relevant craft/engineering qualification and be highly motivated with good team working and communication skills

• Essential experience of, or an awareness of, Turbine Generator Outages

• Good numerical, commercial awareness and IT skills are an essential asset.

• The personality and ability to ‘sell’ the above services to existing and potential new clients and present the salient points of the estimate to section Managers.

•Full training would be given to the successful applicant.
